World Wellbeing Week (June 24–30):
A Prime Opportunity for Pharmacies to lead the way in community health.
World Wellbeing Week, taking place from June 24 to 30, is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come and how much potential we have to keep improving our health and lives. As global attention continues to shift toward preventative health and emotional resilience, this week has become more important than ever.
The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we think about health and wellbeing. It revealed a remarkable capacity for adaptation and resilience, and it brought with it a new kind of awareness of physical, mental emotional wellbeing. Across the world people embraced healthier habits and began to prioritise what truly matters. The world on everyone’s lips became wellbeing.
This week presents a valuable opportunity for community pharmacies to connect with their customers and support their health goals. As front-line healthcare providers and trusted voices in the community, pharmacies are perfectly placed to lead the way by promoting preventative health, emotional wellbeing, and positive lifestyle changes.
What can your pharmacy do for World Wellbeing Week?
1. Promote In-Pharmacy Health Services
Many pharmacies already offer valuable NHS services. World Wellbeing Week is an ideal time to increase visibility and uptake.
Promote:
- NHS Health Checks
- Blood pressure monitoring (Hypertension case finding service)
- Weight Management
- Smoking Cessation Service
These services support key health indicators like heart health, weight management, and early detection of conditions. Brief your team and ensure visible and clear signage throughout the store.

2. Smoking cessation – Support customers in quitting.

Does your pharmacy offer the Smoking Cessation Service? This is a great week to highlight this service.
NHS community pharmacies are a great place for patients to receive stop-smoking advice and support.
Through this service, hospitals can refer patients to community pharmacies to continue the stop-smoking journey they started in hospital.
We offer two CO2 monitors that meet the requirements of this service. PiCO Smokerlyzer and the PiCO Baby Smokerlizer.
These devices measure the amount of carbon monoxide (CO) in a smoker’s breath, providing a motivational visual aid to help customers track their progress and stay committed to quitting smoking.
3. Encourage Nutritional Improvements
Use this week to educate customers about the importance of daily nutrition and supplements:
- Promote vitamins & supplements. Daily multivitamins, Vitamin D (especially critical in the UK), immune-boosting supplements, and bone health support.
- Set up informative displays with clear benefits of various products.
- Offer advice on targeted formulas for energy, digestion, skin health, and cognitive support.

4. Promote Stress Reduction and Emotional Wellbeing

Mental and emotional health are at the forefront of wellbeing. Encourage customers to take time for themselves:
Suggest mindfulness techniques or simple stress-relief tips. Highlight self-care products such as:
- Moisturisers and hand creams, and Sleep aids.
Consider offering a ‘Relaxation Corner’ in your pharmacy to display these items together with educational materials on stress management.
5. Get Your Community Moving
Promote physical activity as a key aspect of wellness. Not everyone can hit the gym, but simple goals like walking or joining a local fitness group can make a big difference.
- Encourage participation in Parkrun events – free, weekly 5K runs held in parks across the UK.
- Display flyers with nearby Parkrun locations.
- Direct customers to the NHS Get Active website.
